ABOUT OUR EVENT
Inspired by the stunning floating lantern festivals in the Vietnamese town of Hoi An, Lanterns on the Lake (LOTL) is a biennial community event held at Wentworth Falls Lake in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia.
Our next lantern festival will be held on Saturday 13 April 2019 from 4pm-7pm. If the weather is not favourable we will postpone the event and try again on Saturday 27th April 2019 from 4pm-7pm.
Families and friends are welcome to bring along a BYO picnic or enjoy a famous Rotary sausage sizzle and enjoy an afternoon of free music and entertainment. As dusk falls, those who wish to participate are invited to launch their floating lantern onto the lake as a simple celebration of gratitude.
Our locally handmade eco-friendly lanterns are available for sale at $5 each on the day from 4pm until sold out.
Entertainment will be provided by Hands, Heart and Feet; Spooky Men’s Choral; and Heather Lee accompanied by Kim Cunio. Interactive art installations will be created by Mandy Schoene-Salter and Nick Baldas. Varuna Writers Centre will present a selection of poetry readings.
